Uttara is in the northern part of Dhaka city and old Dhaka is in the southern part of Dhaka city. Both places are situated in opposite directions from each other. As a result, a few hours of our total tour duration were spent on the road.
Most tourists don’t have an idea of it. So, they make mistakes. To avoid such kind of situation, it is better to book a hotel near your tourist destination. Since old Dhaka is a must-see travel destination for tourists, you can book the below three-star hotels for staying. These are my chronological choices:

Bashundhara City shopping mall, Kawran Bazar, and Farmgate are closer to the hotels. Dhaka University and New Market are not so far from this place.
If you consider all the aspects of selecting a hotel in Dhaka, then you should choose this central part of the city to stay. As a whole, this place is the best. Old Dhaka, the international airport, shopping mall, top-class conference venues, etc are situated at a reasonable distance from this area of Dhaka city.

It is better to book a room through hotel booking websites than directly from the website of any hotel. Generally, I have seen that the room price is high on the hotels’ website. So, you should use hotel booking sites for this. You will get comparatively a lower price on the booking sites. Moreover, you can see secret deals, offers, and facilities all in one place.

Generally, backpackers and solo travelers love cheap hotels with various facilities. They should not book hotels beyond 3-star facilities. Otherwise, they will have to pay more. But, the cost of the 3-star hotels of Gulshan, Banani, or Baridhara is high. So, remember this matter before booking a hotel room here. Uttara area is comparatively better in this regard of the booking price.
If you are coming to Dhaka for attending any type of conference, then you may choose the hotels which are near the conference venue. And if you want to enjoy an international cricket match, then the Grand Prince Hotel will be the number one choice. It’s a 3-star hotel near to Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
